Who gains as your burger gets pricier?
Shoppers paid around 9% more for beef by May while cattle farmers received about 8% less for the same meat, BBC analysis found. Lincolnshire farmer Heather Oldfield said 'there's a lot of uncertainty' about covering her costs. Vegetable growers bucked the trend, earning roughly 13% more as salad prices rose 8%, with fuel and fertiliser costs eating into other farmers' gains.
