WHO confirms human-to-human spread on cruise ship

Limited human-to-human transmission of hantavirus has occurred on the MV Hondius cruise ship, the World Health Organization confirmed on Thursday. WHO infectious disease lead Maria van Kerkhove said the spread happened between the original Dutch couple and a doctor who treated them on board. Healthcare workers handling suspected cases have been told to wear full protective equipment as a precaution.
