Defence Secretary Wes Streeting has delayed a plan to get more young people into defence industry jobs after trade unions objected at the last minute, the Guardian reports. The plan, due on Thursday, promised at least 14,000 defence apprenticeships a year by 2035. Unions said it sidelined workers. The Ministry of Defence confirmed the delay but said the plan would be published in due course.
