Washington Post boss steps down amid backlash over layoffs
Will Lewis has stepped down as publisher of The Washington Post, shortly after the paper revealed plans to eliminate almost one-third of its staff. The former Daily Telegraph editor had come under growing criticism over his management approach, particularly his lack of visibility as more than 300 newsroom roles were cut. Jeff D’Onofrio has been appointed interim chief executive, while owner Jeff Bezos continues to face union demands to halt the layoffs or consider selling the newspaper.
