Washington approves $16 billion arms for Israel, Saudi Arabia.

Washington has authorised military equipment sales worth nearly $16 billion to Israel and Saudi Arabia to bolster regional defence capabilities. The package includes Apache helicopters and tactical vehicles for Israel, while Riyadh will receive Patriot interceptor missiles. Pentagon representatives indicated these weapons sales serve to deter Iranian threats while preserving strategic equilibrium, although Congress has raised timing concerns during the Gaza crisis.
