Wales Plans to Ban Steel Pylons on New Power Lines

The Welsh government wants to ban large steel lattice pylons on new local power lines and make underground cables the default instead. A public consultation has been launched on the plan, which would cover new lines up to 132kV. Where burying cables is not practical, lower wooden poles could be used. The consultation runs until 15 January 2027, and members of the public can respond.
