Pensioners Could Lose £1,600 a Year Under Triple Lock Change

Pensioners Could Lose £1,600 a Year Under Triple Lock Change

Welsh Government, OGL v3, via Wikimedia Commons

Andy Burnham's plan to adjust the state pension triple lock from April 2030 could leave many future pensioners worse off, analysis by advisers Hymans Robertson suggests. The pension could reach about £33,500 a year by 2050 instead of £35,100. The change removes the automatic earnings link, though ministers promise pensions will keep their value against wages. Savings are meant to help fund free social care.
