Vodafone shares rise after Xavier Niel becomes its biggest shareholder
UAE telecoms group e& agreed to sell its 16.2% Vodafone stake for about $5.9bn, with the deal priced at a premium to the previous closing share price. Xavier Niel, the French telecoms billionaire behind Iliad, is buying the stake through his investment vehicle Vega. Vodafone welcomed the investment, and its shares climbed after the announcement.
