Victims at risk as offenders released early without safeguards

Ministers have been warned that abuse victims are at risk because safeguards were not put in place before a new law allows early release of offenders. The victims commissioner and domestic abuse commissioner pressed ministers to halt the early release of individuals found guilty of offences targeting women and girls. Charities report that victims are experiencing alarm, with certain individuals installing CCTV, upon discovering that offenders will be freed starting in September.
