Vet prescription fees capped at £21 from Tuesday
The competition watchdog has made new rules legally binding, requiring vets to cap prescription fees and publish price lists. Vets are also required to inform clients about the availability of less expensive medicine online and to furnish written estimates for treatments exceeding £500. All practices are allowed a maximum of 12 months to implement these changes, which critics argue will disproportionately affect independent vets.
