UV light breaks down 'forever chemicals'

Scientists have found a key process to break down "forever chemicals," stubborn pollutants that remain in water and the human body for decades. A study led by Associate Professor Zongsu Wei of Aarhus University shows intense UV light creates highly reactive hydrogen radicals, destroying PFAS molecules. This breakthrough helps create more effective technologies to destroy these chemicals completely, especially with UV light below 300 nanometers.
