US strikes Iran for seventh night as Strait of Hormuz shipping stops

America's military launched its seventh night of strikes on Iran, hitting surveillance sites and military infrastructure in the region. Iran claimed to target US allies, including Kuwait and Jordan, with its armed forces also alleging attacks in Syria. Shipping traffic has largely stopped in the Strait of Hormuz, which handles about a fifth of global oil supplies.
