US petrol prices up 38% since Iran war began as blockade threatens further spike
The average price of petrol in the United States reached $4.12 a gallon on Sunday, up 38% since the war with Iran began in late February. Oil prices have risen more than 30% over the same period, with Brent crude closing above $95 a barrel on Friday. Analysts warned that Trump's new blockade of the Strait of Hormuz could push prices even higher and feed through into food and consumer goods.
