US lawmakers propose banning 'superintelligence' with prison for violators
Two US lawmakers have introduced a bill to ban the development of artificial superintelligence, which they say could destroy humanity. The proposed law would also pause advanced AI development until a new government department, led by scientists, is created to oversee the technology. Violators, including "rogue actors," might be incarcerated for as long as 20 years.
