US launches strikes on Iran after three tankers hit in Strait of Hormuz

In the early hours of Wednesday, the United States military initiated multiple assaults on locations within Iran. This action came in response to previous projectile attacks that targeted three commercial ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command stated the purpose of these attacks was to exact a significant penalty for targeting commercial vessels in an international shipping lane. Qatar blamed Iran for the attacks.
