US government returns $81bn of illegal Trump tariffs

America has already returned tens of billions in tariffs collected by former president Donald Trump. A Supreme Court ruling in February found a large portion of the extra tariffs he ordered to be illegal. The refunds, mostly in May and June, have caused the federal budget deficit to grow again.
