US government lifts TikTok ban on federal devices
The Justice Department says the new version of TikTok is safer, allowing federal employees to install it on government phones. The app was banned in 2022 over national security fears that China could collect user data via its parent company, ByteDance. A new US entity, TikTok USDS Joint Venture, was created in January, with most of it owned by non-Chinese investors like Oracle.
