US Defense Secretary threatens Anthropic over AI use.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth met with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on Tuesday, setting a Friday evening deadline for the company to comply with AI usage demands. Hegseth threatened to remove Anthropic from the Pentagon's supply chain or invoke the Defense Production Act if they refused. Anthropic has stated red lines regarding autonomous weapon systems and mass surveillance. However, a Pentagon official said the current conflict is not about these specific uses.
