UK worker rights upgraded to match rich nations
New workers' rights laws are bringing the UK up to speed with other major industrialised countries after years of lagging behind. Employment minister Kate Dearden said the Employment Rights Act, which became law last year, includes enhanced sick pay and union access. Businesses worry about extra costs, but Dearden argues it creates a "level playing field" with other industrialised nations.
