UK retail sales jump 1.2% in May

This 1.2% increase represents the most robust monthly expansion since January, marking a rebound from a decline in April. The Office for National Statistics, the UK's data agency, said hot weather made people buy fans and paddling pools. Online sales also soared 6.1%, their biggest monthly increase since February 2025.
