UK reports rise in young people out of work
From April to June 2025, 948,000 people aged 16–24 in the UK were not in work, education, or training, representing an increase of 24,000 from the previous quarter. The government has been developing the Keep Britain Working Review to address economic inactivity caused by ill-health and disability. Research shows young people with mental health conditions are significantly more likely to be economically inactive. The government has launched a Youth Guarantee program and is implementing post-16 qualification reforms as part of broader youth employment initiatives.
