UK regional income gap unchanged in 30 years, report finds
A new report reveals that Britain's significant regional income divide has barely shifted since 1997, despite government promises to close the gap. London's disposable income per person, at £27,900, remains three-fifths higher than Northern Ireland's £17,300. The Resolution Foundation, a think-tank, warned that tackling these entrenched divisions will require substantial investment in transport, housing, and regeneration projects.
