UK proposes 5-year jail for conversion practices ban.
The UK government is proposing a new law to ban “conversion practices” across England and Wales, with jail time of up to five years. This bill would make it illegal to carry out "abusive acts" aiming to change someone's sexual orientation or transgender identity. The government says existing domestic abuse laws don't cover this unique kind of harm, which they define as acts causing serious harm, alarm or distress.
