UK losing 3.4 pubs and restaurants every day

UK losing 3.4 pubs and restaurants every day

Britain's hospitality sector is closing at a faster rate than at any point since the pandemic, new data shows. More than 350 pubs and restaurants shut their doors in the first quarter of 2026, working out to 3.4 closures every single day, the Credit Protection Association reported today. Rising energy costs from the Iran war, higher taxes from April 2025 and weaker consumer demand are pushing operators over the edge.
