UK knife murders fell 27% in two years, overall knife crime down 10%

Safer streets could mean fewer serious attacks for communities. Home Office figures said knife offences dropped 10% since July 2024, more than 1,900 knives were taken off streets, and 2,833 county lines closed during 2025 to 2026, with 7,381 arrests. Officials also said evaluation found the programme prevented an estimated 840 stabbings each year.
