UK inflation falls to 2.6% in June, beating forecasts

UK inflation fell further than anticipated in June, reaching 2.6%, which offered a positive development for the new prime minister and chancellor. The fall was largely driven by lower fuel and food prices, with clothing also dropping in price. However, analysts warn the dip is likely temporary, as higher energy bills from July are expected to push inflation back up later in the year.
