Average asking prices for homes in Britain increased last month, though growth was less than the long-term average for April. Property website Rightmove reported a 0.8 per cent month-on-month rise, linking subdued growth to elevated mortgage rates and strong seller competition. The typical price tag reached £373,971, with available homes at an 11-year high and first-time buyer demand remaining robust.
