UK government funds repairs for evacuated Coalsnaughton mining village

The UK government said on Monday it will pay to make safe 97 homes evacuated in Coalsnaughton, a former mining village in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. The Mining Remediation Authority linked the ground movement, which forced residents out in May, to historic coal workings beneath the area. Officials may buy the worst damaged properties at their pre-incident value and assign each household a support manager.
