UK gilts fall as Starmer crisis hits markets

UK government bonds fell sharply on Tuesday morning with the 10-year gilt yield rising as much as 10 basis points to 5.10%, the highest level in weeks. Investors are concerned that a change of Labour leader could prompt looser fiscal policy and higher public spending. Sterling also dropped 0.45% against the dollar to $1.3550 as traders cut exposure to UK assets.
