UK Car Sales Rise 6% In May

More people bought new vehicles as demand for electric models increased, while petrol and diesel registrations went down. Industry figures released on 3 June showed 152,331 new cars were registered across Britain in May 2026, up about 6% from a year earlier. Battery-powered vehicles made up 27% of registrations, with that segment climbing 31% year on year, while Tesla recorded 2,812 sales.
