UK builders face near 30-year cost jump

Homebuilding and infrastructure plans could slow as firms face rising fuel and material bills plus delayed supplies across Britain during 2026 projects. A survey published on Thursday showed April input costs reached their highest level since June 2022, while the construction PMI fell to 39.7. S&P Global said the monthly rise in purchasing costs was among the largest recorded since 1997, with input cost inflation reaching its steepest level since June 2022.
