UK and US agree pharma tariff deal
Britain and the United States have agreed to a zero-tariff deal on pharmaceutical products, which the UK government states is the lowest tariff rate offered to any country for medicines exported to America. In exchange, Britain will increase NHS drug spending by 25% and raise the NICE cost-effectiveness threshold for new medicines. The agreement, worth £5 billion annually to UK pharmaceutical exports, aims to restore industry confidence after major firms including AstraZeneca and Eli Lilly halted UK investments due to pricing disputes.
