Two Iranian women footballers granted Australian citizenship
Citizenship has been conferred upon two Iranian women's football players, Fatemeh Pasandideh and Atefeh Ramezanisadeh, following their asylum application in Australia. The ceremony in Brisbane on Wednesday saw Immigration Minister Tony Burke administer their oath. Refugees usually need to live in Australia for four years before applying, but their citizenship may have been fast-tracked so they could play for Australia.
