PSG, the reigning European champions, were 3-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha. Erling Haaland scored twice after the break and City hit the woodwork twice, but Maghnes Akliouche made it 4-2 after a Gianluigi Donnarumma handling error. City boss Enzo Maresca said his side were "close" to PSG's level.
