Trump once again threatened to fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and doubled down on what NPR called a 'discredited probe' of the central bank over cost overruns on a headquarters renovation. The Justice Department is formally investigating. Trump personally toured the renovation site with Powell last summer. The pressure campaign on the Fed chief has intensified since the Iran war began.
