Following widespread condemnation over his remarks about NATO forces in Afghanistan, Donald Trump praised the “very brave” soldiers of the United Kingdom. His initial comments, made at the World Economic Forum, questioned NATO's reliability. The UK Prime Minister and others called Trump's earlier statements insulting, especially given the 457 British troops who died in Afghanistan. Trump expressed his support on Truth Social, seeking to make amends after the furor.
