Trump orders agencies to drop Anthropic over AI safety row
President Donald Trump has directed all American federal agencies to cease using Anthropic’s artificial intelligence products following a public dispute regarding military applications. The administration labelled the firm a supply chain risk after it refused to grant the Pentagon unrestricted access, citing concerns over mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. While Anthropic vows to challenge the move in court, rival firm OpenAI has reportedly secured a classified military contract containing similar safety stipulations.
