The 25x spending gap leaving 957,000 young people jobless
Young people are receiving significantly more in benefits than is spent helping them find work, a situation called "shameful". Former minister Alan Milburn stated the government spends 25 times more on welfare than on employment support for 16 to 24-year-olds. Between October and December 2025, approximately 957,000 young individuals were classified as not being engaged in education, employment, or training.
