Transport for London is considering closing Angel Tube station in Islington for up to a year to replace its three escalators, the longest on the Underground. The 200ft escalators are almost 35 years old, and one has been out of service since April. TfL may first make the Northern line station exit-only at off-peak times from November, stopping passengers boarding in evenings and at weekends.
