Temperatures drop six degrees as snow hits north
The Met Office has activated yellow alerts for wintry conditions across Scotland and northern England beginning Thursday afternoon. Up to 10cm of fresh powder may settle on higher terrain as temperatures drop six degrees lower than usual. Health authorities separately warned that freezing weather in the Midlands could endanger vulnerable people until Monday morning. Elsewhere, over 80 flood warnings remain active throughout southern areas like Dorset.
