Teenager killed eight people in British Columbia attacks
Jesse Van Rootselaar, 18, fatally shot eight people in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, before dying from a self-inflicted wound. Fatalities included the suspect's mother and step-brother, plus a teacher and five students at a local secondary school. At least 25 others suffered injuries during the violence, which ended when officers discovered the shooter deceased inside the facility. Officials confirmed the former pupil held an expired firearms licence and had prior contact with police regarding mental health issues.
