Hull MP Karl Turner Gets Labour Whip Back

Hull MP Karl Turner Gets Labour Whip Back

Chris McAndrew / House of Commons, CC BY 3.0, via UK Parliament

Hull East MP Karl Turner has had the Labour whip restored on a probationary basis, seven months after being suspended. He had publicly attacked government plans to restrict jury trials and criticised Sir Keir Starmer's leadership. In an agreed statement, Turner apologised for offence caused to colleagues, admitting his approach had been overly robust, and said he wanted to move on under new party leadership.
