Taliban fighters could join Russia's war in Ukraine

There are worries that seasoned Taliban fighters might join Russia's war against Ukraine after a new military cooperation deal was signed. Russia and the Taliban agreed to boost military cooperation at an event in Moscow on Wednesday, deepening their ties. No other nation has recognised the Taliban as Afghanistan's official government since Russia did in July 2025.
