Supermarket food inflation rises to 2.6% due to Middle East conflict

Supermarket inflation increased to 2.6% in June, the first rise in over a year, mainly because of global supply chain pressures. Consumer champion found fish prices rose 11.1%, followed by energy drinks at 5.5% and chocolate at 3.8%. Sainsbury's chief executive Simon Roberts warned that more pressure from fresh food supply chains is expected by mid-summer.
