Students say school phone bans are 'punitive'

A new study found young people see school smartphone bans as unhelpful and "punitive", not supportive. The University College London report was published on Tuesday, after a new statutory ban came into force for schools in England. While 87% of teachers backed a ban, 75% of pupils disagreed, saying phones aid safety and organisation.
