Student loans making graduates avoid higher-paying jobs, inquiry told

Some graduates say their student loan repayments are holding back career progression because higher salaries would mean more repayments and less disposable income. Over 52,000 people told a Treasury Committee inquiry that loan debt is impacting their career choices, including a Hull solicitor with £70,000 debt. The government said it has raised the repayment threshold and capped interest rates this year to help graduates.
