Strait of Hormuz attacks drive UK diesel to 16-month high
UK diesel prices have reached a 16-month high less than a week after the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East. Wholesale diesel costs rose by 7p per litre and petrol by 2p following large market moves on Monday. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, through which more than 80 tankers pass daily, has been severely reduced by Iranian attacks, directly pushing up fuel prices across Europe.
