Stockport Rail Lines Closed After Wire Damage

Wikimedia Commons

All railway lines through Stockport station closed on Friday after overhead wire damage caused major disruption across northern England. National Rail said trains were cancelled, diverted or stopped short while engineers made repairs. Six operators were affected, including Avanti West Coast, Northern and CrossCountry. Services between Manchester Piccadilly and Stoke-on-Trent were suspended, and routes toward London Euston were hit. Northern urged passengers to avoid travel.
