Starmer Refuses to Quit After Labour's Heavy Losses

Councils across England changed hands overnight, with Labour shedding hundreds of seats and stoking fresh questions about Keir Starmer's future as prime minister. Starmer spoke on Friday morning, insisting his drive to deliver change had not been weakened. By 9am, with 45 of 136 councils declared, Labour had already lost 258 council seats.
