Starmer ex-aide says sorry over Mandelson row
Sir Keir Starmer's former chief of staff has apologised for his role in the Peter Mandelson appointment fiasco. Morgan McSweeney told the Commons Foreign Affairs Committee this morning that "the prime minister relied on my advice, and I got it wrong," while denying he asked officials to skip security checks. McSweeney also apologised to victims of Jeffrey Epstein for any further hurt caused by the controversy.
